Answers:
which laser college will provide me
the best training or education?
There are several
colleges now offering aesthetic laser training in the United States, however
the Rocky Mountain Laser College ( RMLC) is considered the gold standard in
laser training.
The RMLC teaches students
in over 30 countries from around the world. RMLC has had sister schools in Tokyo
Japan and Madrid Spain, with more to come in the next few years.
Most of the top laser
manufactures send their customers to the RMLC once they purchase a laser and the
top insurance company in the world (Lloyds
of London) endorses Lorenzo Kunze, M.E. and the entire RMLC
curriculum.
Experts agree that the
main
reason for the success of the RMLC is that Lorenzo Kunze, M.E. (the college
director) has been teaching aesthetic and medical applications for over 35
years. His passion in his work is what sells him as
"the laser guru" and his
years of experience is what allows his graduates to be so successful.
Lorenzo's training
style does not include boring lectures, as he feels that most students learn
more from their live hands-on experience. His famous words in regard to
learning aesthetic laser applications is... "it is
not rocket science"! He teaches that providing laser procedures is as
easy as "point and shoot" and not difficult to do...once you have captured
the "easy to learn" recipes.
If you really do your homework, you will find that the
RMLC provides
students with the best aesthetic laser education available.
?
Make sure
to check how long the college has been teaching
and that they
are an approved college under the direction of the
Department of
Higher Education, Health Occupations.
If you have
selected the RMLC, you will be among the graduates that started
their training back in 1948 (Electrology Training Center). Over
the years laser applications have enhanced the aesthetic
profession to where the college now teaches everything in in
regard to aesthetic laser
procedures.
Both of
Lorenzo Kunze's parents started the college over 60 years ago in
Denver Colorado, teaching multi-current technology (AC, DC and RF) in the aesthetic field. Training included removal of:
unwanted hair, skin tags, cherry hemangiomas, warts, milia,
sebaceous hyperplasia and pigmented lesions.
In 2010 the
RMLC mission statement is the same
as it was in 1948.
"To provide quality service and training
with honest, sincere and expected results. To develop and maintain proper knowledge, professional relationships and education to the public. Utilizing the
newest state-of-the-art equipment and protocols available to medical, aesthetic
and allied health professionals."
Longevity
is one of the keys to the success of the RMLC and it's
graduates.
who will be teaching
the class or classes and are they qualified?
This is
probably one of the most important questions you need to ask
before attending any college.
Make sure that the person
advertised is the one providing the training.
At the RMLC
all of the training is supervised personally by Lorenzo Kunze,
M.E. You may be asking yourself who is Lorenzo and is he
qualified to teach aesthetic laser applications. Simply go to
www.google.com/LorenzoKunze and read about
his 35 years of experience.
Teaching with Lorenzo are other instructors
that have vast experience in aesthetic laser procedures and most
of them
individually
own their laser practice.

If
you do your homework, on
the internet you will find that most of the
instructors at other schools are graduates of the RMLC. They received
their first training in the laser profession as a student from
Lorenzo Kunze, M.E. and they are now teaching at laser schools
around the world.
Why study
with the student, when you can be taught by the teacher.
-
how much should I have to pay
to get a quality aesthetic laser education?
The answer
to this question is related to the amount of hours you will need
to get certified in your particular state or country. The average cost for aesthetic laser training is $7,000.
Continuing education is usually
estimated at $50 an hour of certification.
why does the
amount of hours
/ tuition vary from college to college?
Most U.S.
and Canadian states/provinces require 40 hours of formal
training from an accredited school.
Countries
from around the world have different hourly requirements. If you
need to know your requirements, please contact the college at:
800 314-4990 / 303 237-9100 /
admin@laserlaser.com and speak with Sherry Hevelone
the college administrator.
On the
internet you may find schools that recommend up to 100 hours. The
reason is that some schools strive to get students to attend
over 40 hours because they are trying to get the student
to apply for a student loan. Student loans for any type of
education requires at least 100 hours of training. While this
may sound like a good idea, your student loan for 100 hours of
training could cost you over $20,000 (principle and interest) by
the time you can pay it back. These colleges play off of the
idea that you are going to get more education, but what they
don't tell you is how much this training will really cost the
student.
Beware: some schools are more interested in putting
money in their pocket, instead of assisting you to learn a
profession that can put money in your pocket.
The
RMLC
recommends 40 - 60 hours of training. If our students feel
they need additional hands-on experience, they can stay or come
back for an additional 40 hours for $2,500. This training will
consist mostly of hands-on with live models.
where will I
stay
during my training if I am from out of town/country?
At the RMLC
we take the worry out of where to stay and how to get to and
from your hotel. We want you to concentrate on what you have
paid to learn...aesthetic laser applications.
The RMLC
has had a long lasting agreement with Marriott and is included
with your $4,000 tuition. The college will take care of your
motel reservation and your transportation between the hotel and
college.
When you
apply for tuition registration, let us know your travel plans.
APPLICATION (click here)
how much
money do I need to bring
with me while I am at a college (breakfast, lunch)?
If students
attend the RMLC, they will need monies to pay for their round
trip ride from the airport to their motel room (less than
$100). Dinner and any other activities they plan in the evening
will need to be budgeted by the student as well.
Again, the
RMLC does not want our students to be worrying about anything
but their laser education. Your breakfast is provided at the hotel and
fruit, pastries and drinks are available at the college. Lunch
is also provided so that students can have the opportunity to
associate with fellow students attending the college. Lastly the
RMLC provides a small graduation
party with cocktails and a
buffet dinner.
will the college
prepare me
mentally before I actually attend?
Some
colleges have you sit and listen to boring lectures before
allowing you to ever touch the laser. At the RMLC you will
receive on-line modules that can be taken at home
before attending the
college to prepare you for your education.
After your
RMLC tuition has been paid, you will be given a computer code to
receive didactic, terminology, safety and an introduction to
aesthetic lasers. This allows our students to know key words,
descriptions and safety practices before they are in class.
Which will allow more hands-on training and in turn a better
education.
how many lasers
should be at the college that I attend?
The college
should give the student a variety of
lasers to work with. If the college only has one name
brand, beware! They are probably trying to sell you this brand
of laser and you will not have the ability to see what other
name brand lasers are like. This really is not fair to the student.
The
RMLC has over 25 different types of
lasers from over 8 different companies. The reason is
that we want you to make the decision on
what laser you want to purchase and we want you to
purchase it directly from the manufacture. No middle man
commissions to be paid once you decide what laser you want to
lease or purchase.
will the college
allow me to fire
the laser during my training?
Some
colleges only allow you to watch the instructor fire the laser.
Which provides no real hands-on experience for the student.
The RMLC
will have you firing the laser the very
first day and you will have time for live hands-on
training each and every day after that. Even if you are taking
the hair removal class you will be allowed to fire the tattoo
removal laser on live models. This will give you the experience,
when or if you decide to expand your laser business or career.
can I expect to
receive
treatments on myself while I am in class?
The
best way to know how a treatment
feels is to have a treatment yourself.
All of the RMLC graduates are encouraged
to receive treatments while they are in class.
It is not
unusual for students to receive
anti-aging laser treatments on the
face, hands or chest. Or hair removal on those pesky hair areas
of the body. Teeth whitening, tattoo removal and some even
decide to stay and have laser liposuction or Body JET treatments
after graduation (at a greatly reduced price for graduates).
if I want to only learn tattoo removal,
do I need to stay for the full
curriculum?
No
you don't need to stay,
however we feel that if you are
getting into the aesthetic laser business you should know all of the aspects of the profession.
At the RMLC
our graduates all state that they are glad they took the entire CLS (Certified Laser
Specialist) course as they now can say they did it all during
their training.
will I have
enough hands-on
to operate a laser after graduation?
No matter
how long you attend a college, you will never have enough
hands-on. Your hands-on experience is
developed over months and years of practice.
However the
RMLC will move you around to the laser that
you will be working with or the type of
laser applications you want to learn the most. Some
tattoo removal graduates spend a few hours with hair, skin,
teeth and cellulite and then spend the majority of their time on
the tattoo removal lasers.
exactly what does the
certification allow me to do after graduation?
The CLS
certification is a worldwide recognized
credential. In some states it is mandatory to have the
CLS to operate or become insured to fire an aesthetic laser.
Physicians look for this credential when
hiring an aesthetic laser professional and they
themselves are taking the course to add CLS to their portfolio.
It is the
college founder's (Lorenzo Kunze) vision to provide a credential
that will have enough meat on it to mean something more than
just a workshop or event. This is why he has the curriculum
approved and regulated by the
Department of
Higher Education,
Health Occupations. The RMLC is an accredited college
with an approved curriculum that will provide our graduates
discounts on their malpractice insurance
with Lloyds of London.
how much money
can I expect to earn after graduation ?
Survey says
that CLS graduates make between $20 - $30
an hour when they are providing laser services ONLY.
Those that are providing the consultation, scheduling and
treatment, usually make $30 - $40 an hour.
If the CLS
graduate leases or purchases their own laser and opens
their own business, the generally
bring in $150,000 - $300,000 a year.
Earning about $75,000 - $150,000 a year. The RMLC has many
success stories on CLS
graduates. click here
This also
can depend on if you have the CLS credential. Some colleges do
not have state approved courses and your certificate means
nothing more than the paper it is printed on.
Most of the
RMLC graduates may open their own business, however there are
some that just don't have the funds to do so right now. Others
feel that they need to work in the profession a while before
making that tough decision to open their own place.
if I decide to open my own business
can I purchase or lease a laser?
The answer
is YES. There are laser
leasing companies available for
the CLS graduate to work with and there are
NEW and USED equipment companies
that will work with our students after graduation.
Lorenzo will also be available to assist
you in your major decision to purchase or lease lasers
and equipment.
The RMLC tries to provide the best
aesthetic laser education available to the public. So
they will direct their graduates to the
appropriate professionals to purchase a laser, obtain
insurance and to lease equipment.
will the
college be there after I graduate?
All of the RMLC instructors are there for
the graduates before, during and after their graduation.
The RMLC prides itself on having an instructor just for laser
hair removal, tattoo removal, skin and anti-aging and for the
medical professional. So the CLS can contact the college anytime after graduation and receive
professional advice.
Lorenzo will be there to hold your hand
after graduation, whether it be for a job interview,
letter of recommendation or opening your own aesthetic laser
business. Also continuing education will
be provided so that our CLS graduates can keep up to date
on the latest laser technology or treatment advancements.
can the college
help me after
graduation if I want to start my own
laser business?
This is
where the RMLC is different than most
colleges out there. They want you
to succeed and will be there to help you start your own
aesthetic laser business. Whether it is a floor plan, an
electrical outlet or a lease option...Lorenzo
will help you get your business started.
Some
graduates will need Lorenzo's experience (being involved
with over 30 clinic of his own) to work out expenses (spread
sheet), employee situations and business in general. This is
what he is good at and what he enjoys to do.
When you have a passion like
Lorenzo has for the aesthetic laser profession,
you can see why he has been so successful
in both his professional and private life.
